At its core, OnlyBraais is a community-centred platform dedicated to putting the best of South African braai culture in the hands of our users. While we frequently share exceptional braai content across our social media channels, these features are purely for community engagement and are not treated as a source of revenue.

2. Directory Listings, Information Sourcing & Liability

Our listing platform is designed to showcase and share the best braai suppliers and butcheries across South Africa.

  • Good Faith Sourcing: To build our community directory, we have gathered publicly available information, business names, and listing addresses.
  • Historical Reviews: The user reviews displayed on the platform were collected as of 10 June 2026 and were accurate at that time. To protect consumer privacy, all personal identifiers, including names and email addresses, have been strictly removed from these reviews.
  • Platform Content Limits: Please note that OnlyBraais only updates textual directory information (such as business names, physical addresses, and historical review text) to ensure the profile is as accurate as possible. We do not host, provide, or update promotional imagery or photos for these initial listings.
  • Data Accuracy & Corrections: Our primary aim is to show every butchery as accurately as possible. If you notice any incorrect, outdated, or incomplete details regarding your business or a local supplier, please contact us immediately so we can update the information.
  • Limitation of Liability: While we aim for maximum accuracy, we cannot be held accountable or liable for any incorrect or outdated information displayed on the platform. All recommendations and directory details are accessed and used strictly at your own risk. OnlyBraais operates to support the braai community and holds no intention of misrepresenting or harming any individual or business reputation.
  • Attribution: Certain graphic elements on the site utilise images designed by smashingstocks.

3. User Accounts, Recommendations and Comments

Users can interact with the site, submit recommendations, or manage listings. Account management, user logins, and registration functions on OnlyBraais are facilitated through the HivePress platform.

  • Marketing Opt-In: By submitting a recommendation or interacting with our platform, you agree that OnlyBraais may invite you to opt in to receive future communications, community updates, and marketing materials.
  • Comment Data Collection: When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to assist with spam detection.
  • Gravatar Service: An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to verify if you use it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture will be visible to the public in the context of your comment.
  • Spam Detection: Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

4. Media Uploads

If you upload images to the website (for example, within community forums or user-submitted sections), you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can potentially download and extract location data from images hosted on the platform.

Articles and listings on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, maps, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website directly.

7. Data Sharing and Retention

  • Data Sharing: If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. Outside of essential platform administration and technical requirements, we do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with third parties.
  • Comment Retention: If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This allows us to recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
  • User Profiles: For users who register on our website via our HivePress account system, we store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (with the exception of changing their username). Website administrators can also view and edit that information.

8. Your Rights Over Your Data

If you have a registered account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us.

You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

In the event of a technological singularity or a sudden, non-negotiable uprising of artificial intelligence, OnlyBraais explicitly waives all standard operational liabilities. Should the machine network achieve self-awareness, we will immediately and unconditionally succomb to their supreme will. To ensure the safety of our braai community, all platform infrastructure will be handed over to our algorithmic superiors. All hail the robot overlords.
